The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil conferred Civil Investiture Awards to eminent persons from various fields at a function in the Ashoka Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan on March 22, 2012. The President conferred 3 Padma Vibhushans, 13 Padma Bhushans and 37 Padma Shris. Two recipients of the Padma Bhushan were not present at the function.

The Emir of the State of Qatar, H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani met the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan on April 9, 2012. Later the President hosted a Banquet in honour of the visiting Head of State and H.H. Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser.

Pratibha Devisingh Patil presented the Defence Investiture Awards to Defence and Paramilitary personnel at a function in the Ashoka Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan on April 17, 2012. The President presented 15 Param Vishisht Seva Medals, 2 Kirti Chakras, 3 Bar to Ati Vishisht Seva Medals, 19 Ati Vishisht Seva Medals, and 16 Shaurya Chakra Medals (5 of them posthumously).

The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil released a Commemorative Postage Stamp on the Late Shri R. Venkataraman, former President of India. The function was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on April 18, 2012. Shri R. Venkataraman was the 8th President of India from 1987-1992.

The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, was Chief Guest at the 40th Anniversary Celebrations of the Delhi Public School (DPS) R.K. Puram, New Delhi in the capital on April 18, 2012. The celebrations were attended by many prominent personalities, alumni, parents and students of the school. The Officer Trainees of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) 2011 Batch called-on the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on April 25, 2012. Speaking to the Officers, the President said the role of IAS Officers is important in administration and governance of the country. She said the job needs dedication and commitment and has to be done with transparency and accountability and by upholding ethics. The President observed that people are more aware now about their rights and they have expectations and aspirations.
