President of India Plants Sapling at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, President's Estate

The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil planted a sapling of the Caribbean Trumpet Tree (Tecoma Argentea) or commonly known as Basant Rani at the Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in the President' Estate in New Delhi today.
The occasion also marked the launch of the Van Mahotsav, under which 1000 saplings shall be planted in the President's Estate. The President also inaugurated the Basketball Court of the Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sarvodaya Vidyalaya and interacted with the players in the school Basketball Team. She also interacted with the teachers of the school and some of the girl students.
Today's sapling planting programme also marked the flagging off of the 'Clean India - Green India' Programme of the Giants International. The Giants International is a social organisation under the Chairmanship of Shri Nana Chudasama. The Giants International shall be planting a minimum of one lakh plants all over the country this year. Plants suitable to different geographical conditions in the country shall be planted with special focus on trees with long life, which provide good shade and ample oxygen such as Neem, Badam and Pipal.
