President Condoles the Passing Away of Smt. Gyan Patnaik

The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil is saddened to learn about the passing away of Smt. Gyan Patnaik.

In a condolence message to her son, Shri Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Orissa, the President has said, "Smt. Gyan Patnaik was a woman of substance who had a will of steel. In a time when women were still struggling to gain widespread acceptance in society, to take up careers, she ventured into a career full of adventure, by training to become a pilot. She was also aware of the need to popularize science and using it for the upliftment of society, which she did through the Kalinga Foundation".
