President of India Presents Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner to the President’s Bodyguard

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee presented the Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner to the President’s Bodyguard (PBG) at a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (March 30, 2013).
Speaking on the occasion, the President congratulated the President’s Bodyguard for upholding the highest military traditions and discipline. He said that he was confident that the President’s Bodyguard would continue to uphold the lofty values of professionalism, dedication and commitment that they had displayed over the years. He applauded all the officers and ranks of the President’s Bodyguard, past and present, and their families for their unstinted devotion and selfless dedication to the nation and wished the men of the forces success in all their endeavours.
The audio visual presentation which followed the Presentation Parade highlighted the history and significance of the Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner. The presentation also covered the saga and modern day role of the PBG. This display was first conceived for the presentation parade at the Bicentenary of the PBG on September 30, 1973. The presentation was a sound and light show with the live participation of PBG which brought alive the splendour, colour and the evocation of the magnificent backdrop and acoustics in the natural amphitheatre, provided by the Forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan. The ceremony also included an impressive equestrian display by horses of the PBG.
