President of India to Confer Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowships and Awards for 2014

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee willconfer the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowships and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards for the year 2014 at a function at Rashtrapati Bhavantomorrow(October 23, 2015) at 1800 hrs.
The Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowships (Akademi Ratna Sadasyata) and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards (Akademi Puraskar) are recognized as the most covetednational honours bestowed on performing artists as well as teachers and scholars in the field of performingarts. The large body of practitioners, gurus and scholars in the performing arts honoured by the Akademi represents the nation's highest achievement in music, dance and drama.
The Sangeet Natak Akademiwas created as the apex body in the countryfor the promotion and preservation of the performing arts of the country. One of the important activities of the Akademi has been to give recognition and honour to artists through the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowships and Awards.
