President of India Condoles the Loss of Lives Due to Landslides in West Bengal

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee hascondoled the loss of lives due tolandslides in Darjeeling district of West Bengal today (July 1, 2015).

In his message toShri Keshari Nath Tripathi, the Governor of West Bengal,the President has said "I am deeply saddened to learn about the landslides triggered by heavy rains today in Darjeeling district of West Bengal, which have caused loss of life, injuries and damage to property.I understand some people are missing and rescue as well as relief operations are currently underway.

I call upon the State Government and other authorities to provide all possible aid to the bereaved families, who have lost their near and dear ones as well as medical assistance to the injured.

Please convey my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased.I wish speedy recovery to the injured persons”.
