Further Progress in Facelift for Rashtrapati Bhavan

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee on April 2, 2013 visited newly refurbished Vivekananda and Tagore Suites in the ground floor of Rashtrapati Bhavan. These Suites which are meant for use by guests of the President have been newly renovated, refurbished and decorated with paintings, artifacts and pieces of classical furniture collected from different parts of Rashtrapati Bhavan. The first person to use the refurbished Vivekananda Suite was eminent vocalist, Smt. Girija Devi who recently performed in Rashtrapati Bhavan.

A new room for Video Conferencing has been created from where it is expected that the President will interact with Vice Chancellors, faculty and students of Universities for which he is the Visitor.

A new Research and Reference Centre has been opened by converting a set of rooms which was unused into a Study Lounge. This Research and Reference Centre is for the use of the President as well as officers of Rashtrapati Bhavan.

A new Meeting Room for the use of officers has also been created.
