Question and Answer Session

1. As a responsible citizen of India, what should I do from my part to Curtain Corruption.

- Mr. Maanas Menon V.K., Dr. NGP College of Education, Coimbatore

Ans: Adichunchanagri example.

2. At present, agricultural lands are being occupied by flats and industries. How the food production can be increased to meet the raising population ?

- V. Nithya, MICA, Kongu Arts and Science College, Erode

Ans: Generally the land used for industries and housing is part of the wasteland. Irrigated agricultural land is not being used for industrial purposes. However, we have to work for a situation where with a reduced land availability, water availability and agricultural workers availability, we can produce double the amount of foodgrains using science and technology.

3. The urban youth are more aware than those from rural areas, what do you suggest to correct this inequality ?

- P. Gnanavel, III BSc (Maths CA), Kongu Arts and Science College, Erode

Ans: With the availability of electronic media, the awareness is virtually identical between rural areas and urban areas. I have been suggesting the use of universal tele-education for multiple virtual classrooms so that the lectures of the best teachers are available to all the children uniformly both in the rural areas and urban areas. Also, creation of village knowledge centres in each Panchayat will facilitate in improving the awareness of rural people in all the activities.

4. What kind of expectations do you have from the student community to become a developed nation in 2020 and in what position are we towards its achievements ?

- S. Balasharanya, Sree Saraswathi Thyagaraja College, Pollachi

Ans: Whatever you do, you excel in it. Select a goal and work constantly for achieving the goal. While working towards goal you may encounter some challenges. You should not allow the challenges to become your master. Instead you should become the master of the problem and succeed.

5. What role can an institution play to equip the Students to accomplish our dream of making India Super Power in 2020 ?

- K. Sathiya Priya, Gobi Arts and Science College (Autonomous)

Ans: The educational institutions must build capacities among the students such as research and enquiry, creativity and innovation, use of high technology, moral leadership and entrepreneurship among the students so that they can undertake nation building tasks after completion of their education. By becoming entrepreneurs they will become job creators instead of job seekers.

6. Unemployment is the biggest challenge in India. Information Technology has developed many opportunity but still we would not reduce the level of unemployment ? Why? And how do you want the youth to react to this?

- S. Malarvizhi, Dr. R.V. Arts and Science College

Ans: Information technology alone cannot provide job for everyone in the country. Today, nearly one million people are in the ICT sector. It will grow into 2 million shortly. We have to increase the enterprises in the manufacturing sector which can provide jobs for millions of our youth. Our emphasis is in preparing our youth to become entrepreneurs and create manufacturing enterprises particularly in the rural areas. I have suggested to both Universities and schools to include entrepreneurship programme as an important part of educational curriculum. Students leaving the college should get a certificate or diploma in entrepreneurship along with their main degree. This will empower them to participate in creation of an enterprises in collaboration with banks and other entrepreneurs.
