Speech by the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee at the Peking University, China on the Topic “india –china Relations: 8 Steps to a Partnership of the People”
1. I thank you for your kind words of welcome. I am delighted to be here today at this prestigious institution of higher learning. The Peking University is world renowned for the erudition of its scholars and inspired leadership.

1.At the outset I would like to thank the Peking University and Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China for hosting this Round Table.
1.I am happy to be present at this ceremony conferring the Malti Gyan Peeth Puraskar 2016. The awards ceremony today coincides with the 95thbirthday of Malti-ji. My best wishes to her on this special day!
1.It is indeed my privilege to visit the Republic of Ghana on the first ever State Visit by a President of India. I am accompanied by a delegation of Parliamentarians that represent diverse regions of our country.
1.I am delighted to be here. Ghana is a trusted friend of India. Our two countries have had a similar political history and today, as developing economies, we have a shared vision for our peoples.
1. It is a great pleasure for me to visit the Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT. I am accompanied by Minister of State in the Indian Prime Minister’s Office, H’ble Dr.
1.It is indeed a singular honour for me to be the first Head of State of India to pay a visit to your beautiful country. I am deeply touched by the warm welcome accorded to me - and to my delegation - and the unstinting hospitality extended to us since our arrival.
1. I am delighted to be here in Abidjan, Pearl of West Africa, on the very first State Visit by a President of India to this beautiful country.
1.I am delighted to visit Namibia, a nation blessed by Nature, endowed with abundant resources, caressed by the ocean, and inhabited by the brave. I feel truly honoured to have this opportunity to address this august House of the leaders and representatives of the people of Namibia.
