President Congratulates New President of Paraguay

The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, has congratulated H.E. Mr. Fernando Lugo on his election as the new President of the Republic of Paraguay. In a congratulatory message to the new President-elect of Paraguay, the President has said, "It gives me great pleasure to congratulate you on your historic election as the new President of the Republic of Paraguay. I would like to convey my best wishes for success of your agenda for change and for improvement of the socio-economic situation of the Paraguayans.

India and Paraguay have friendly relations. We wish to enrich this relationship and further strengthen them for mutual benefit. As part of India's commitment to South-South Cooperation, we would also like to establish a development partnership with Paraguay".
