Envoys Present Credentials to President

Five envoys presented their credentials to the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil at a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan here today.

The envoys who presented their credentials were: - Her Excellency, Mrs. Yous Makana, the Ambassador of Cambodia, His Excellency, Mr. Piotr Klodkowski, the Ambassador of Poland, His Excellency, Mr. Philippe Welti, the Ambassador of Switzerland, Her Excellency Mrs. Valerica Epure, the Ambassador of Romania and Her Excellency, Mrs. Merike Kokajev, the Ambassador of Estonia.

In her interaction with the Ambassadors, the President said that India seeks to build bridges of friendship with all countries. The President added that an effective response to global challenges requires broad based institutions. The United Nations Security Council needs to be made more representative and international financial institutions more robust. Referring to terrorism, the President highlighted the need for a global partnership to fight against terrorism.

The credential presentation ceremony was attended by the senior members of the missions, senior officials of the Ministry of External Affairs and Rashtrapati Bhavan.
