The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the centenary celebrations of the National Test House today (January 20, 2013) at Kolkata.

The President expressed concern over India having fallen behind in research and development despite tremendous increase in number of educational institutions. He said that Institutions in India like National Test House must come up to international standards. There is no way we can compromise on this. Today we live in a global village and there is fierce competition to survive in the market place. It is extremely important to keep on improving quality and reduce cost for which development of world class testing facilities is critical. The President called upon the National Test House to lead in this regard.

On the occasion, the Governor of West Bengal released a book on history of National Test House and presented its first copy to the Hon’ble President.
