Winners of Tata Building India School Essay Competition Call on the President

Winners of ‘Tata Building India School Essay Competition’ for the year 2010-11 and 2011-12 called on the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (April 2, 2013).

Speaking on the occasion, the President congratulated the winners and also the TATA Group for their initiative in conducting the essay competition. He said that it is very necessary to motivate our children and our youth to reflect on the great nation that is India. He said that he firmly believed that the first step in this direction would be to have a clear understanding of the historical, political, social and economic aspects of our freedom struggle and the national priorities that guided the framing of our Constitution.

The President said that he was confident that participation of students in national level initiatives such as Tata Building India School Essay Competition would inculcate in them a sustained commitment to the country and that they would play a proactive and positive role in its development as a great nation.

The Tata Building India School Essay Competition is an initiative of the Tata Group to motivate school children to think positively about the country by writing an essay on a topic of nation building. Instituted in 2006, as an English language competition in six cities with one lakh students, the competition has grown rapidly with two million students now participating each year.
