Probationers Of Indian Trade Service Call On The President

A group of 20 Probationers of Indian Trade Service of 2010 and 2011 batches called on the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee today (July 31, 2013) at Rashtrapati Bhavan. These probationers are presently undergoing nine months professional training at Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, the President congratulated the probationers for having succeeded in one of the toughest examinations in the country. He said that our exports sector should lead the revival of our economy. There may be certain areas of concern as far as the Indian economy is concerned but there is no reason for despondency. He stated that we must portray a realistic assessment of India’s economic prospects.
The President said that as the Commerce Minister, he had the good fortune to contribute to the negotiations that led to the formation of the World Trade Organization (WTO). The setting up of the WTO marked an important event in international trade and investment.
Addressing the probationers, the President said that they were going to work for the progress of the country. They must be proactive in their actions, quick in their decisions, innovative in their efforts, and responsive in their dispensations. Their work must benefit the lowest section in the socio-economic pyramid.
Also present on the occasion were the Commerce Secretary, Director, IIFT and Director General, Foreign Trade.
