Probationers of India Revenue Service Call on President
Rashtrapati Bhavan : 10.03.2016
A group of probationers of 69thBatch of Indian Revenue Service called on the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (March 10, 2016).
Addressing the probationers, the President said that the motto of their department is ‘Kosh Moolo Danda’ which means revenue is the backbone of administration. Kautilya in ‘Arthashatra’ has beautifully described the manner of revenue collection. A tax collector should act like a bee, which collects the honey quietly, without disturbing the flower. It is important that they should imbibe this principle at the nascent stage of their career and continue working with the same in future. It is expected that they shall collect taxes in a just, fair, efficient and humane manner to enhance the faith of taxpayers in the revenue collection system.
The President said that the officers should equip themselves with the right technological skills for application of modern tools of information and technology which are available today. He told them that they would have to be the main instrument of Government to have the supply of resources required for the welfare of the people. Today, the major responsibility of the State is to take care of welfare of the public including care of health, education etc.
These Officer Trainees are presently undergoing their sixteen months induction training at the National Academy of Direct Taxes, Nagpur.
