President of India Condoles the Passing Away of Mr. S.r. Nathan, Former President of Singapore

<p>The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee has condoled the passing away of former President of Singapore, His Excellency Mr. S.R. Nathan.</p><p>In a message to His Excellency Dr. Tony Tan Keng Yam, the President of the Republic of Singapore, the President said, "It is with great sadness that I received the news of the passing away of former President of Singapore, H.E. Mr. S.R. Nathan.</p><p>President Nathan’s life and achievements were exceptional. He served Singapore with distinction. He will always be remembered for his sagacity and wisdom in leading Singapore – and his contribution to its emergence as a vibrant economy and progressive society.</p><p>I recall my pleasant and fruitful interaction with him when I visited Singapore as External Affairs Minister of India in 2007.</p><p>On behalf of the people of India and on my own behalf, I offer deep condolences to the people of Singapore and to President Nathan’s family”.</p><p class="last-word">This Press Release issued at 2045 hrs.</p>
