President Congratulates Indian Contingent at Xx Commonwealth Games

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee has congratulated the Indian contingent on the occasion of the conclusion of the XX Commonwealth Games at Glasgow.

In his message to Shri Raj Singh, Chef-de-Mission, Indian Contingent for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, the President has said, "On the memorable occasion of the conclusion of the XX Commonwealth Games – 2014 in Scotland, I extend my heartiest congratulations to all our sportspersons, who have participated and won laurels for themselves and for our country.

These games have proved to be a powerful bridge bringing together people and athletes from various nations. More than anything else, the event has witnessed human endeavour at its best.

Our sportspersons have undoubtedly shown commendable determination, grit and ambition for achievement, and this was instrumental in their success.

These Games were also a great opportunity for those who could not earn a medal, to imbibe lessons to enhance the quality of their endeavours.

I am confident that in the future, too, our sportspersons will continue to strive hard and prove their merit so as to keep our national flag flying high in the international arena”.
