My Vision Of Police For Future India Is Of A Pro-active Service Provider, Says President

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee witnessed the Passing Out parade of the Indian Police Service (IPS) Probationers (65 RR-2012 Batch) today (November 5, 2013) at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad.
Speaking on the occasion, the President said that his vision of the Police for future India is not that of only a law enforcing body, but of a pro-active service provider, a partner in growth, development and peace. As police officers, you should always ensure that the grievances of the common man are redressed. He stated that this would require a change of role of the police from a reactive to a pro-active agency, which, in partnership with other stake holders will create a peaceful and secure atmosphere conducive to the growth and prosperity of our nation. The President said that he expected from the officers, the highest degree of professionalism at all times and consistent efforts to ensure that the rule of law is enforced in letter and spirit.
The President said that police constables are the visible face of Government and therefore enough attention should be paid for their training and development and improvement in their service conditions. Inculcating in them the highest degree of discipline, integrity and commitment is absolutely necessary.
The President also inaugurated an Indoor Sports Complex in the Academy. Among the dignitaries present on the occasion was Governor, Andhra Pradesh, Shri ESL Narasimhan.
