The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee attended a civic reception hosted in his honour at Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office,Kathmandu, Nepal today (November 3, 2016).

Following the Reception, the President wrote in the Visitor’s Book "I am deeply honoured by the civic reception accorded to me by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office at the historic Rashtriya Sabha Griha.

I am particularly happy to visit this holy city once again. Needless to say, Kathmandu has expanded greatly since my last visit. I congratulate the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office for their unfailing dedication in managing and maintaining this rapidly growing city - despite the inevitable challenges.

Kathmandu is not only the political capital of Nepal, but also a spiritual center for the people in the region. I am confident that in coming days it will be a model for other cities in Nepal. The Government ofIndia stands ready to partner with the people and Government of Nepal in their endeavours towards growth and development.

I thank the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office and its Chief Executive Officer, Shri. Rudra Singh Tamang and convey, through him, my best wishes for the progress and prosperity of the people of Kathmandu”.
