Rashtrapati Bhavan : 03.11.2016

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee received Honorary Doctorate from Kathmandu University today (November 3, 2016).

Following is the full text of inscription "I am deeply honoured by the conferment of Honorary Doctorate on me by the Kathmandu University today. I accept it in the name of the people of India.

I was particularly happy to have had the opportunity of interacting with the students and faculty members of the University and sharing with them my thoughts and reflections on the value of higher education for their generation.

A nation is built on the strength of its academic institutions and the education that they impart to its citizens. I am confident that the Kathmandu University will continue to deliver this key enabler for the socio-economic development of Nepal and also deepen the collaborative exchanges of this University with Indian institutions of higher learning. The Government of India stands ready to assist in this endeavour.

I offer the Kathmandu University and its Vice Chancellor, Shri Ram Shrestha, my best wishes for their success in providing quality education to Nepali as well as foreign students”.
