Address During The Presentation Of Awards To Outstanding Teachers, New Delhi

True Teacher is a perpetual seeker of knowledge

I am indeed delighted to participate in the Teachers award function. I realize it is very important to recognize the great service done by the teachers from different schools spread all over the country. My greetings to the organizers, education planners and policy makers, principals, teachers and other distinguished guests. Here I would like to recall what the great teacher Dr. S. Radhakrishnan said "We must be perpetual seekers of intellectual integrity and universal compassion. These are the two qualities which mark out a true teacher." My congratulations to all the awardee teachers, who have worked consistently for many years, to achieve this recognition. Happy home of teachers will result in generation of happy motivated teachers. I am confident that the Government will take all measures to achieve this.

It is essential to celebrate the teachers who love teaching in every Panchayat while celebrating the Teachers' day. Parents and students need to participate in the celebration of Teachers' Day. The Panchayat Union can organize cultural and sports events for the village citizens by associating the schools in the villages to take the leading role in the celebrations. This is the time the Panchayat Board and the parents of the students can recognize the teachers who love teaching belonging to the Panchayat and other schools and celebrate their accomplishments. At this function, the selected teachers may be asked to give their personal experience and the methods they follow for creating a unique environment for the children to learn. This type of celebration will motivate the other teachers to learn and perform well in their schools.

Normally, when I meet the teachers I administer a ten point oath to them. If you all agree I will administer the same oath to all of you.
